Youth career

Michael is a centre back who spent much of his Academy playing time at right back. His twin brother, William Keane, was also at the club. Following FA Youth Cup success in 2011 he had a significant growth spurt which resulted in a move to centre back, where he's played ever since. He's played in the League Cup for the first team and had a successful loan with Leicester City.

Michael started the 2013/14 season with Manchester United's Under-21 side but joined Derby County on loan from November 2013 until the end of January 2014. In March 2014 he joined Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

With the first short of defenders, Keane started the 2014/15 in the first team and made his league debut away to Sunderland in the second game of the season, replacing the injured Chris Smalling. He joined Burnley on loan for an initial four months on 1st September 2014 before moving to Turf Moor permanently on 8th January 2015.

International

Michael has represented England at Under-19 and Under-21 levels. He had previously represented Ireland at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
