Donald is a right back who started his career at Manchester United. Injuries disrupted his availability and as such he was seldom a regular in any side at United in his early days. However, when fit his performances were good and he was rewarded with a professional contract in 2013.
He found opportunities hard to come by in 2014/15 but forced his way into the Under-21 side in the second half of the season, often playing in a new centre back role.
On 2nd October 2015, Donald joined Wigan on a two month loan. He got injured in November but still did enough to have his loan extended by a month. In February 2016, Donald joined the first team away to Sunderland due to injuries and came on as a first half substitute. In April 2016, Donald scored his first goal at Under-21 level.
Donald joined Sunderland in August 2016 for a fee of £500k, signing a four year contract.
