Axel signed for Manchester United back when he was still at primary school. Most comfortable as a centre back, he is capable of playing in a central midfield role if needed. As a schoolboy he made 9 appearances in 2013/14 and even captained the Manchester United U-18 side on more than one occasion.
Axel was given the full time captaincy of the Under-18 side for the 2014/15 season and formed a good centre back partnership with RoShaun Williams. His consistent form and strong leadership saw him included with the U-21 side and he was been touted for the First Team in the future.
In 2015/16 after recovering from an injury, Axel played almost exclusively with the U-21 side. He was named as an unused substitute for the first team away to Crystal Palace in October 2015 and then again two months later away to Bournemouth in December.
