Benik Afobe

Benik Afobe is a striker currently playing for the Wolverhampton Wanderers first team.

Youth career

Benik joined the Arsenal academy when he was six, having been spotted playing for Sunday league team Eclipse FC in Dagenham. He scored goals at every level, but couldn't force his way into the Arsenal first team. He was sent out on a series of loans, the most successful of which was at Milton Keynes Dons during the 2014-15 season. On 14 January 2015 he signed for Wolves for an undisclosed fee. By the end of the season he had scored 13 league goals to add to the 19 in all competitions at MKD, giving him 32 in total. Nobody in all four divisions had scored more, although Sergio Aguero had scored the same number.

International

He has represented England at Under-16, 17, 19 and 21. On 18 June 2015 he was unexpectedly called up to the England Under-21s for the European Championships, following an injury to Saido Berahino, but never got any game time despite England crashing out bottom of their group with two goals in three games.
