Youth career

Freddie, the son of former Crystal Palace goalkeeper and current Newcastle goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman, made his Under-18 debut at the start of the 2012-13 season as a 15-year-old. Previously, he made an appearance for the Under-21s, or reserves as they then were, in a friendly against York City at just 14 years old. He has been on loan at Hartlepool United on a 1-month youth loan at just 17.

Freddie has represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

He was part of the England U17 squad that won the UEFA European Championships beating Netherlands on penalties in the final.

Contract

Woodman signed his first professional contract at Newcastle after his 17th birthday in March 2014.
