Youth career

Nathan joined Chelsea as an Under-8 and made his Under-18 debut in the final match of the 2014-15 season away to Aston Villa. Despite playing second fiddle to Jared Thompson for much of his junior career, an injury to the latter at the start of 2015-16 meant Nathan was thrust into starting and he never gave up his job all season, featuring in every match en route to winning the 2015-16 FA Youth Cup before making his Under-21 debut against Everton in May 2016.
