Youth career

Ennis started playing for Wolves Under-18s in 2014-15 as a schoolboy. On 27 April 2015 he made his Under-21s bow, still as a fifteen year old schoolboy, coming off the bench with about twenty minutes left in a 1-0 defeat away to Blackburn.

International

He was called up for the England Victory Shield squad for the match against Northern Ireland in 2014, but didn't get on the pitch. Then on 31 March 2015 he came off the bench for just the last few minutes in a 4-1 England U16 win over Mexico in the Montaigu tournament. In the next match in the tournament, a 1-0 win against Turkey, he played the whole game, and he got about an hour in the next, a 1-1 draw with the Ivory Coast.

When his age group moved up to Under-17, Ennis made his debut at that level in the first game, against Italy at Telford on 26 August 2015. Two days later he got fifteen minutes or so at the end of a win over Turkey, and then in the final game of the tournament he scored his first England goal. This put England 3-2 up against Portugal, but sadly the game finished 3-7. Since then, Niall has been a regular starter for England at this level.
