Youth career
Nick joined Manchester United in the summer of 2012 from Crewe Alexandra with an already big reputation. He favours the number 10 role behind a striker but it was suggested he'd be converted to a central midfielder long-term. He had a few first team opportunities in his first season at the club and scored on his debut against Wigan. Towards the end of his first season he had back surgery that meant he was out of action for a few months.
Having regained his fitness late in the summer, Nick played one game with the Manchester United Under-21 side before moving on loan to Wigan for the season. Despite a few injuries during his loan spell he made more than 40 appearances and averaged better than a goal every four games playing in the number 10 role.
Following a series of injuries, Nick made his comeback to football for the first team away to MK Dons in the 2nd Round of the 2014/15 League Cup. He joined Leicester City on loan for the 2014/15 season but was recalled by Manchester United in January after he failed to break into the Leicester team. In February 2015 he damaged his hamstring in an Under-21 game and required surgery, ending his season early.
After 9 months out through injury, Nick made his comeback in an Under-21 game away to Norwich City in November 2015 with Warren Joyce suggesting that he was in the best shape of his career so far. Nick was a surprise substitute for the first team away to Wolfsburg in December 2015 and got on again away to Bournemouth a few days later. In February 2016 Nick joined Hull City on loan for the rest of the season. He was released by Manchester United in June 2016.
