Youth career

George was initially s a midfielder who was most comfortable on the right wing but also had the ability to play in the middle and up front. It was in a central role that he made his first Under-18 appearance against Middlesbrough in December 2015 whilst still an Under-16. Towards the end of the 2015/16 season, George scored his first goal for the Under-18 side, away to Norwich City.

At the start of the 2016/17 season, George was named as an unused sub for the Under-23 side for the first time. During the first few months of the season he was used solely as a right back by the Under-18 side and that became his position for the following campaigns.

George made his Under-23 debut in the first game of the 2018/19 season. George was sent off against Sunderland in October 2018 but the red card was later rescinded.

George joined Morecambe on loan in August 2019 for the 2019/20 season. He was recalled by Manchester United in January 2020 and joined Salford City on loan.

International

George has represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 levels.
