Youth career
Ryan joined Liverpool as an Under-9 player.
Senior career
He made his professional debut while on loan at Coventry City, coming off the bench in a League One game against Scunthorpe United in September 2015. Ryan then made his Liverpool debut in an FA Cup tie against Exeter City in January 2016, before spending the 2016-17 season on loan at Barnsley. After spending pre-season with Liverpool's first-team squad, he was loaned out again in August 2017 and will spend the coming season with German side SC Freiburg.
