Youth career
Liam has been with Manchester United since he was 7 years old and has played in numerous positions during his time at the club. Although initially a midfielder, he often found opportunities at right back or at centre back, where performed well and usually with the captain's armband on.
With game time in 2013/14 limited, he joined Morecambe on loan at the end of March 2014. Similarly in 2014/15 he didn't initially play regularly but came into the side after the new year playing as a holding midfielder.
On deadline day of the summer 2015 transfer window, Liam joined Motherwell on loan until January 2016. He was recalled a couple of weeks early from the loan spell as speculation about a permanent transfer elsewhere grew. On 18th January 2016 Liam joined Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.
