2014 European Under-17 Championship (Qualifying)

Qualification for the 2014 European Under-17 Championship in Malta took part in two separate stages. The qualifying round was played across September, October and November 2013 and featured 52 teams split into 13 groups. 27 teams progressed to the second stage of qualification, the elite round, which was held over a week at the end of March 2014.

Qualifying round

The 52 participating teams were split into 13 groups of four based on seeding from the UEFA Under-17 coefficient ranking. The top two teams from each group would progress to the elite round of qualification, while there was also a spot for the best third-placed team. Germany received a bye to the elite round as the side with best UEFA coefficient.

A total of 52 teams entered the qualification process at this initial stage:

Elite round

The elite round was the second phase of qualification and took place over 11 days at the end of March 2014. The 28 participating teams were split into seven groups of four, with the seven group winners progressing to the summer's finals. The six fixtures in each group were hosted by one of the group's teams.

A total of 28 teams took part in the elite round stage of qualification. They were comprised of the 13 group winners from the first qualification stage, the 13 group runners-up and the best third-placed side, as well as Germany, who were given a bye to the elite round as the side with the highest competition coefficient:
