Youth career

Davide joined Manchester United from Roma in the summer 2008, a transfer that was far from straightforward due to Roma's desire to keep hold of the player and youth contract restrictions in Italy. His enormous talent was seldom seen in his early years at the club as long-term injuries severely restricted him. Finally in the 2011/12 season he managed to play nearly a full season and was named as captain of the Reserve side. That season concluded with a place on the first team pre-season tour in 2012.

Having missed so much football, Davide has always been playing catch-up and it was evident in the autumn of 2012 that he was finding Reserves football too easy. Although he'd originally joined as an attacking midfielder, he found a place in the centre of midfield where his technical skills could help him to control and set the tempo in games. In January 2013 he joined Peterborough United on loan but it was cut short by injury.

In 2013/14 Davide joined Royal Antwerp on loan for the season but was recalled in January 2014. He joined Charlton Athletic for six weeks at the end of March 2014.

Although initially named in Manchester United's first team squad for the 2014/15 Premier League season he terminated his contract in early September 2014 and joined CFR Cluj on a free transfer.
