Ryan Rainey

Ryan Rainey is a defender/midfielder currently playing in the Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21 and Under-18 teams.

Youth career

Rainey started playing for Bonagee United at six, and was usually a central midfielder, but when he began playing for the Republic of Ireland he was used as a defender. He joined Wolves at sixteen, turning down other offers including one from Fulham. He had met Stephen Ward and Stephen Hunt, both Irish internationals, and had been impressed by Mick McCarthy, and by Molineux.

All-Ireland First Year title with St Eunan’s College 2010 (defeating Cork’s Rochestown College 2-1 in the final in Athlone).
