Youth career

Ben is a central midfielder who's been with Manchester United since he was 9. He's a box-to-box central midfielder known for his tough tackling and work-rate but his ability on the ball is of a high standard too. He's had a very successful central midfield partnership with team-mate, Joe Rothwell, for both club and country. He missed a large portion of the 2011/12 season due to glandular fever.

Ben progressed extremely well over the 2012/13 season and even captained an Under-18 side for his country. He ended that season in Warren Joyce's Under-21 side.

Despite being fully fit for the duration of the 2013/14 season, opportunities in the Under-21 side were limited until 2014 due to the size of Warren Joyce's squad. However, by January 2014 he was reunited with Joe Rothwell in central midfield and was an outstanding contributor to the side's resurgence in form and Under-21 Premier League results.

In January 2015, he joined Barnsley on an initial 1 month loan but after some impressive performances it was extended by an additional month.

On 18th July 2015, Ben rejoined Barnsley on a 6-month loan.

International

Ben has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
