Youth career

Josimar joined Chelsea from Barcelona in June 2013 but was unable to officially begin his Chelsea career due to paperwork and visa issues, and had still not played a competitive match by the end of the 2014-15 season. That changed when he turned 18 and paperwork was no longer and issue and so he became a part of Adi Viveash's Under-21 and Under-19 teams. His contributions to the latter included a goal away to Porto en route to winning the 2015-16 UEFA Youth League as he turned his game from being a winger to becoming a tenacious central midfielder.

International

Josimar has represented Ecuador at Under-20 level
