Youth career

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans would like to point to Kortney Hause as yet another good youngster they have brought through, but it's only very loosely true. He's really a product of the West Ham academy, and went from there to sign as a youth team player with Wycombe Wanderers in February 2012. Only on the final day of the January 2014 window did he sign for Wolves, for an undisclosed fee, and by then he was an 18 year old with 23 league appearances and two goals to his name. Kenny Jackett hadn't seen Hause play in person and had gone home on the day the deal went through, believing all business done. Then the telephone rang and he went back out to meet his new player.

Hause played a handful of U21 games during the second half of that season, and then he went out on loan to League One Gillingham for the first half of the 2014-15 season, only to be recalled early as a crisis was brewing at Molineux, with heavy defeats and injuries and a possible suspension looming for Danny Batth. Kortney made his Wolves full debut on 13 December 2014 in a 1–0 Championship win at Sheffield Wednesday, playing at left back, which is where he continues to operate. He played only one U21 match in the 2014-15 season, and is unlikely to play more than an occasional game at that level now, despite still being only 19, as Wolves don't often use first-team squad players in the U21s unless they really need game time.

International

Well if Wolves fans can't claim Kortney as an academy success, at least they can point out that he became an England U20 international while he was at Molineux; or at least they could if it hadn't happened during the Gillingham loan. The Gills were managed by Peter Taylor at the time, which might have helped. To date he has eleven U20 appearances, the first three of these in a strong "Four Nations" tournament in Holland; the other two nations being Germany and Turkey. In addition he has played in friendlies against Canada, Portugal and Mexico. The most recent games were in the 2015 Toulon Tournament, against Morocco, Ivory Coast, Mexico (again), China (from the bench) and the USA. He has scored twice, once against Turkey and the other against the USA. Aidy Boothroyd has used him both in the centre and at left back.

Career statistics

No data pre 2014-15. Wolves give no squad information for U18 apart from the FA Youth Cup. The Gillingham games include one in the FA Cup. Correct up to the end of the 2014-15 season.
